DMCA & Copyright Policy
Where we stand on copyright
CREATE MORE FLOW respects copyright, both other people’s and our own. We build stories from primary sources, we quote fairly and briefly, and we credit and link to original reporting rather than lifting it. When we use an image, we use one we have the right to use. If we have slipped up despite that, this page is how you get it fixed quickly, and it is also how you tell us when someone has taken our work without permission.
This policy follows the notice and takedown approach of the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act, because it is the most widely recognised process, and we apply an equivalent good faith standard to valid complaints from anywhere. You do not need to be American, or to cite a statute, to have a copyright complaint taken seriously here.
If you think we have infringed your copyright
Write to support@createmoreflow.com with COPYRIGHT or DMCA at the front of the subject line, and include enough for us to act without a second round of email. A complete notice contains:
- your name and contact details, and, if you are acting for someone else, who you represent;
- identification of the work you say has been infringed, or a representative list if there are several;
- the exact URL or URLs on this site where the material appears, specific enough that we can find it without guessing;
- a statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorised by you, your agent, or the law;
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the owner of the copyright or authorised to act for the owner;
- your physical or electronic signature.
Please send accurate complaints. Under the DMCA, a person who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing can be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. That cuts both ways, and it is there to protect honest publishing as much as honest copyright holders.
What we do when a valid notice arrives
We act promptly. Where a complaint is clearly valid, we remove or disable access to the material named and let you know it is done. Where it is unclear, we may come back with questions before acting, because a takedown on a news site can also be a way of removing accurate reporting someone dislikes, and we will not remove journalism simply because it is unwelcome.
If we remove something you posted as a user, for example a comment or an image in a comment, we will try to tell you and give you the chance to file a counter notice. Repeat infringers lose the ability to post, in line with the law’s requirement that we deal with them.
Counter notice, if we took down your material by mistake
If material of yours was removed and you believe that was an error, or that you have the right to use it, you can send a counter notice to the same address. Include your contact details, identify the material and the URL where it appeared before removal, add a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification, and consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court, along with your signature.
When we receive a valid counter notice we may restore the material after a short waiting period, unless the original complainant tells us they have gone to court to keep it down. We are a news publication, not a judge, and where two parties genuinely disagree about rights, that is where the dispute belongs.
When someone copies our work
Our reporting, images we create, and layout are protected, and republishing whole articles or systematically copying our work without permission is not something we ignore. Brief quotation with clear credit and a link is the normal, welcome way the web references journalism, and we encourage it. Wholesale reproduction, content scraping, and passing our work off as someone else’s is not, and we pursue it, starting with a takedown notice to the site and its host and escalating where needed.
If you would like to republish or syndicate our work properly, ask. Write to support@createmoreflow.com with what you want to use and where, and we will tell you whether it is fine as a quote, available for licensing, or not something we can grant. The terms that govern reuse are also summarised in our terms of service.
Fair use, honesty, and where to go next
Copyright coexists with fair use and fair dealing, which is what lets journalism quote, criticise, and report on protected material. We rely on those doctrines carefully and we expect others to as well. A complaint that is really an attempt to erase accurate reporting is not a copyright matter, and if your concern is that a story is wrong about you rather than that it copied you, the right route is our corrections policy. Everything on this page routes to support@createmoreflow.com, and other ways to reach the desk are on our contact page.
