Xiaomi Bets ₹49,999 on a 10,000 mAh Redmi Note

Xiaomi put a 10,000 mAh Redmi Note 17 Pro Max at ₹49,999 in India, stepping the chip down from last year’s 7-series and betting the battery will carry the price.

Xiaomi priced the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max at ₹49,999 in India, hanging a 10,000 mAh silicon-carbon cell on a Snapdragon 6 chip. The cheaper Redmi Note 17 Pro starts at ₹36,999 with a 9,000 mAh pack. Both phones launched on September 15, 2026, and go on sale from September 17 and September 23.

That is a Note badge at mid-premium money after Xiaomi moved the series off last year’s Snapdragon 7s chip and 200MP camera. The company is selling days of runtime, a charger in the box, and a phone that is rated for hot-water jets.

A 10,000 mAh Pack at ₹49,999

Xiaomi India’s product page puts a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery in the Pro Max and calls it the largest cell the Note line has carried. The 12 GB / 256 GB model is ₹55,999. Select bank cards take ₹5,000 off, which brings the 8 GB phone to ₹44,999.

THE INDIA LAB CLAIMS

  • Light use: Xiaomi Internal Labs timed 4+ days of typical use on one charge, with the usual caveats on networks and software.
  • 20 minutes: The in-box 100W brick hit 36 percent at 25°C with the screen off, which the company calls a full day back.
  • 70 minutes: The same test filled the pack from empty.
  • 1,600 cycles: TÜV SÜD certified 80 percent capacity after that many charges, which Xiaomi bills as 6 years of battery reliability.

The global spec sheet lists the phone at 229.5 g and 8.65 mm thick, or 8.57 mm on the photochromic colour, which is a lot of cell without the brick-phone silhouette older 10,000 mAh handsets wore. Reverse wired charging is rated at 27W, so the pack can top up earbuds or another phone.

ONE CHARGE, ON PAPER

  • Headphones: 177 hours of music.
  • Instagram Reels: 30 hours.
  • Movies: 21 hours.
  • Rear video: 14 hours.
  • Maps: 16 hours.
  • PUBG: 17 hours.

Those figures are Xiaomi Internal Labs numbers, not independent rundowns. They still tell you where the engineering budget went: the cell, the 100W brick, and the Surge battery chips that watch voltage so the meter does not fall off a cliff at 1 percent.

The Processor Steps Down From Last Year’s Note

The Pro Max is the India debut of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, a 4 nm octa-core chip clocked up to 2.6 GHz with an Adreno GPU. RAM is LPDDR5X, up to 12 GB, with UFS 4.1 storage on the 256 GB models. Xiaomi also advertises 12 GB of virtual RAM on the top variant, which is software borrowing, not extra chips.

Qualcomm’s May 7, 2026 platform note said the 6 Gen 5 delivers 21 percent better GPU performance than Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, plus 20 percent faster app launches, 18 percent less screen stutter, and 8 percent better power use. REDMI was named among the first phone makers on the chip, alongside Honor, OPPO and realme. None of that makes it a Snapdragon 7s or 8-series part.

The Note 15 Pro+, still listed on Xiaomi’s India store at ₹39,999, shipped with Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. The new Pro Max costs ₹10,000 more than that listing, holds 3,500 mAh extra, and gives up the faster chip name. Fifty thousand rupees with a 6-series SoC is the part of this launch that does not sell itself. The battery is doing the work the processor name used to do on a Note Pro Max.

REDMI Note Series has continually made premium products more accessible, and delivered premium quality across every product we make.

Anne Wang, REDMI marketing director, Xiaomi International, August 27 launch note

Wang also put lifetime volume at more than 500 million Note phones across more than 100 markets and 12 years. The India pitch is that this generation spends that reputation on a cell, not on a camera megapixel race.

Realme Already Sold This Battery Size for Less

A 10,000 mAh phone is no longer a one-off in India. 91mobiles’ 10,000 mAh tracker on September 15 listed five such models, all realme P4 Power and Narzo Power variants, from ₹30,400 to ₹37,999. The P4 Power 8 GB / 128 GB set sits at ₹30,499 with a 10,001 mAh silicon-carbon pack, an 80W brick, and a Dimensity 7400 Ultra chip.

Xiaomi is not claiming the first 10,000 mAh slab in the country. It is claiming a Note-shaped one with a 3,500-nit panel, IP69K, four OS upgrades, and a 100W charger in the carton, and it is charging Note money for that bundle.

HOW THE INDIA PRICE STACKS UP

Phone India price Battery / charge Chip Main camera
Redmi Note 17 Pro Max (8 GB / 256 GB) ₹49,999 10,000 mAh, 100W Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 50MP OIS
Redmi Note 17 Pro (8 GB / 256 GB) ₹39,999 9,000 mAh, 67W Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 50MP OIS
Redmi Note 15 Pro+ (Xiaomi store) ₹39,999 6,500 mAh, 100W Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 200MP
realme P4 Power (8 GB / 128 GB listing) ₹30,499 10,001 mAh, 80W Dimensity 7400 Ultra 50MP OIS

The Pro Max is about ₹19,500 above the listed P4 Power, and it is ₹10,000 above Xiaomi’s own still-on-sale Note 15 Pro+. Buyers who only want a giant cell already have a cheaper aisle. Buyers who want the Note’s display, drop rating and software calendar are the ones this price is aimed at.

Last Year’s Note 15 Pro+ Keeps the 200MP Camera

Both new phones use a 50MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide. The Pro Max adds a 32MP front camera; the Pro uses 16MP. Video is 4K at 30 fps with EIS plus OIS on the rear. That is a clean step down from the 200MP main sensor on the Note 15 Pro and Note 15 Pro+, which Xiaomi still sells.

The aperture on the new main camera is f/1.5. Xiaomi is pushing portraits, dual video, night portrait, and an AI suite (Glare Removal, Beautify, Erase Pro) rather than a megapixel headline. The shared 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED is the other holdover that actually moved forward: 2,772 × 1,280, 120 Hz, 3,500 nits peak, 2,000 nits HBM, 12-bit colour, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ on the Pro Max, Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and wet-finger touch.

If the last Note Pro+ in the house is doing fine, the camera is not the reason to spend ₹49,999. The reason is the extra 3,500 mAh, the extra water ratings, and a software clock that now reads 2032 for security patches.

IP69K, Titan Stars and a Charger in the Box

Both Pro models carry IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K. Xiaomi’s global spec sheet spells out the IP68 lab as static freshwater to 2 metres for up to 72 hours, and IP69/IP69K as 80°C jets. Liquid damage outside those tests is not covered, and the company says not to treat this as a beach or pool phone.

SGS certified a 3-metre face-down drop onto smooth granite. Xiaomi’s August 27 note called the Pro models the first phones with TÜV SÜD 5-star Titan Quality marks across battery, drop and water. The back on Secret Sunrise is fiberglass that Xiaomi says is 10 times more impact resistant than last generation, on that colour only. Dual stereo speakers sit behind a 400 percent volume-boost claim that, in the footnote, means 17 volume steps instead of 15.

THE DURABILITY STACK

  • Water and dust: IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K, with the 2-metre / 72-hour IP68 lab.
  • Glass: Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, rated by Xiaomi for 3-metre face-down falls.
  • Drop lab: SGS 5-star mark for drop, bend and crush, plus the 3-metre granite test.
  • Cell wear: 80 percent after 1,600 cycles, TÜV SÜD, sold as 6 years of battery health.
  • In the carton: 100W adapter on the Pro Max, 67W on the Pro, plus a USB-C cable.

HyperOS 3 on Android 16 is the software load, with 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches. Xiaomi India’s line is “smooth and secure till year 2032,” which matches the security window if you count six years from 2026, while the OS train stops around 2030. That calendar is the quiet half of the wager: a 10,000 mAh phone you are meant to keep.

The ₹36,999 Pro Is the Volume Phone

The Redmi Note 17 Pro is the one Xiaomi will actually sell in bulk. It starts at ₹36,999 for 8 GB / 128 GB and ₹39,999 for 8 GB / 256 GB. A ₹3,000 bank cut takes the base phone to ₹33,999, which is the starred figure Redmi India posted on sale day.

Xiaomi India’s spec sheet gives the Pro a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Mobile Platform on 4 nm, with four Cortex-A78 cores at 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8 GHz. Memory is LPDDR4X, not LPDDR5X. The 256 GB model uses UFS 3.1; the 128 GB model uses UFS 2.2. Reverse charging drops to 22.5W. Xiaomi’s light-use claim is 3.5+ days on the 9,000 mAh pack, and Redmi India called that cell its first-ever 9,000 mAh battery.

The display, IP stack, Gorilla glass, 50MP OIS camera and 4-plus-6 software match the Pro Max. You give up 1,000 mAh, 33W of wired speed, LPDDR5X, UFS 4.1, the 32MP front camera, and the 6 Gen 5 GPU bump. For ₹10,000 less than the Pro Max’s 8 GB / 256 GB SKU, that is the rational Note for most people who do not need the headline cell.

Colours split the pair. The Pro is Cloud Blue, Purple Vibe and Stealth Black. The Pro Max is Matcha Green, Stealth Black and Secret Sunrise, a photochromic fiberglass back Xiaomi ties to Pantone’s Cloud Dance White that shifts pink-orange in UV light.

September 17 Opens the Cheaper Model

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max Support Wireless Charging?

No. Xiaomi’s global spec sheet lists 100W wired HyperCharge, 27W wired reverse charging, and PD2.0/PD3.0 on USB-C, with a 100W adapter in the box. There is no wireless coil on the spec list, so a pad will not top this phone up.

Which Storage Options Does India Get on the Pro Max?

Only 256 GB. India pricing is 8 GB / 256 GB at ₹49,999 and 12 GB / 256 GB at ₹55,999. Xiaomi’s global sheet also lists 8 GB / 128 GB and 8 GB / 512 GB, and the 128 GB global unit falls back to UFS 2.2, but those two SKUs are not in the India price card.

What Comes in the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max Box?

Xiaomi’s global pack list is the phone, a 100W adapter, a USB Type-C cable, a SIM eject tool, a protective case, a quick start guide and a warranty card. Local sellers can vary on the adapter, which is why the spec sheet tells buyers to check with the retailer, but the India product copy states the 100W charger is already in the box.

Can the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max Take Photos Underwater?

Xiaomi lists an Underwater Mode for photo and video, with on-device buttons and speaker drainage, due by OTA. The footnote limits it to static freshwater at a maximum of 2 metres for up to 30 minutes, not seawater, pools or hot water, and says liquid damage beyond those tests is outside warranty. A proper dive case is still the advice for anything beyond a sink-level accident.
